Prayer for finding a new house by St. Joseph

Sharing is caring!

When house hunting is difficult, St. Joseph is the one to call.

St. Joseph is widely known as a patron saint of house hunters or those who wish to sell their house. There is even a tradition — more like a superstition — of burying a statue of St. Joseph on the property of a house you wish to sell and placing the house in his care.

Sometimes it can be more difficult to find a new house than to sell an old one. Depending on where you want to live, the options can be extremely limiting. It can take months, sometimes years to find a house that is within your price range and serves the needs of your family.

During those desperate hours of scouring the internet and local ads for the best home, it is helpful to offer a short prayer to St. Joseph. He was in charge of finding a place for Jesus and Mary to live in while on earth and over the centuries has become widely known for his heavenly assistance in securing homes for others.

Here is a brief novena prayer to St. Joseph that can be prayed for nine days in a row for the intention of buying a home (or any intention for that matter). The important part of this spiritual exercise is to give everything to God, trusting that he will provide in your time of need.

Glorious St. Joseph, foster-father and protector of Jesus Christ! To you do I raise my heart and hands to implore your powerful intercession. Please obtain for me from the kind Heart of Jesus the help and graces necessary for my spiritual and temporal welfare. I ask particularly for the grace of a happy death, and the special favor I now implore (insert intention).

Guardian of the Word Incarnate, I feel animated with confidence that your prayers in my behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God.

V. O glorious St. Joseph, through the love you bear to Jesus Christ, and for the glory of His name,
R. Hear my prayers and obtain my petitions.
